Locksmith in Unterhaching

Unterhaching lies directly south of Munich, against the city boundary at Perlach. It is a separate municipality with its own council and postcode, and one of the largest in the district — but the boundary is administrative rather than physical, and the built-up area runs straight across it.

Travel is calculated from the actual road distance to your address rather than from which side of the city boundary it sits on — worth knowing if you have been told that anything outside the city costs extra.

What it costs in Unterhaching

Unterhaching is in zone 3, the surrounding district, so travel is added to the opening — calculated over the whole journey by road from our premises to your address, not from the boundary onwards and not as a flat rate for the municipality. Within a single municipality the routes often differ by several kilometres, so a flat rate would either overcharge you or be unsustainable for us. The calculator shows the amount as its own line.

For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

Where Unterhaching is

Unterhaching sits south of Munich, adjoining the city at Perlach. The Rathausplatz and the S-Bahn station form the centre, with the Sportpark to the north — home to the football club that briefly played in the Bundesliga. The Fasanenpark development in the northwest is the newest residential quarter. The main routes are the Münchner Straße as the principal connection, the Bahnhofstraße and the Biberger Straße. The Perlacher Forst forms the western edge; Taufkirchen adjoins to the south and Ottobrunn to the east. Trains reach the city centre in about a quarter of an hour, which is why the municipality is as urban in character as it is.

What the buildings are like

Urban and dense by district standards. Along the main routes and around the station stand apartment buildings and larger developments from the 1960s to the 1990s. Between them lie areas of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, each with its own front door, garage and garden. The Fasanenpark quarter in the northwest is recent building with underground parking, laid out as a single development. The larger developments have extensive shared basements where compartments are grouped rather than placed under each staircase.

Getting to you

Unterhaching adjoins the city boundary directly and is reached very quickly by the Münchner Straße, the Mittlerer Ring and the A995 — it is one of the fastest municipalities in the whole district for us. Journeys within it are short and parking is generally unproblematic. Because the travel component comes from the actual road distance rather than a flat rate for the district, an address here frequently works out below one in an outer city district. The calculator will show that rather than our word for it.

What we are usually called for in Unterhaching

  • Flat doors with system-bound cylinders in developments
  • Cellar compartments in extensive shared basements
  • Front doors of detached and terraced houses
  • New flats in the Fasanenpark quarter with garage access
  • Building entrance doors with several staircases per address

Questions from Unterhaching

I am outside Munich. Does that automatically cost more?

No, and Unterhaching is the clearest example of why. Travel is calculated from the actual road distance to your address, not from which side of the city boundary you are on. From a city-centre base, Unterhaching is closer than several districts that are administratively part of Munich. A flat rate per area would overcharge you here and undercharge somebody in the far west — which is precisely why we do not use one.

I live in one of the larger developments. What should I give you?

Building number, staircase, floor. The developments along the main roads have several entrances per address, and the numbering between them is not always obvious from where a vehicle can stop. If your cellar compartment is what you cannot reach, say which building its entrance is in — in the larger schemes the basements are shared and compartments are grouped rather than placed under each staircase.

Can I change the cylinder in a rented flat here?

Ask the Hausverwaltung first, because in the developments the answer is usually no in the way you mean it. Those flats sit on central locking systems, so a standalone cylinder would not open the building entrance. In the houses and smaller buildings the flat cylinder is normally yours to change — keep the original to reinstate when the tenancy ends, and book it as planned work rather than an emergency, which costs considerably less.
