Locked out? We will tell you the price before we set off.
Locksmith Munich — 24/7 door opening at a fixed price
We open doors across Munich and the surrounding district, at any hour, including nights, Sundays and public holidays. You get the price in writing before any work begins — including VAT, and including travel anywhere inside the city.
- Fixed price before work starts — in writing, not at the opened door
- Travel and 19 % VAT included — the figure you hear is the figure you pay
- No time charges — we do not bill per started quarter-hour
- A real Munich business with a shop — not a call-centre passing on jobs
- Payment on site: cash, girocard or Apple Pay
How locksmiths work in Germany — and what to watch for

If you have recently moved to Munich, this is worth two minutes. The German locksmith market has a genuine problem with overcharging, and consumer organisations have been warning about it for years. The Federal Court of Justice has confirmed that exploiting someone's emergency to demand excessive sums can constitute criminal usury.
You are in a weak position when it happens: you cannot compare, you cannot walk away, and at two in the morning you cannot think it through. That is exactly what dubious providers rely on. Four things protect you.
Ask for the total on the phone
Not "from 29 euros" — the total for your situation, at this hour, at your address. A serious provider can tell you. If they cannot or will not, that is your answer.
Check that VAT and travel are included
In Germany, prices quoted to private customers must include VAT. Travel is a separate question — ask explicitly. And ask whether there is a charge per started quarter-hour, which is where invoices quietly grow.
Look for a real address
German websites must carry an Impressum with a full postal address. Many locksmith numbers online belong to agencies with no address at all — if the invoice is disputed, there is nobody to turn to.
Do not sign anything unread
Not on paper, not on a tablet. If a figure appears that you did not agree to, you can write "Zahlung unter Vorbehalt" (payment subject to review) above your signature before signing.
Before you call anyone: most German apartment buildings have a Hausmeister (caretaker) or a Hausverwaltung (property management company). They often hold a spare key, and calling them costs nothing. It is the first thing we ask about on the phone — even though it may mean we do not get the job.
What will it cost?
Three answers and you have your price: what happened, when you need help, and where you are. Travel is calculated from the real driving distance — not from a flat rate per district.

There is no time metering.
What we do
Locked out
Door latched shut or locked with a key — the most common case, and usually opened without damage.
MoreLost keys
We open first. Whether the cylinder needs replacing we discuss afterwards, honestly.
MoreBroken key
Snapped off in the lock. Leave it where it is — tweezers and glue turn this into a replacement.
MoreBroken lock
Key turning without effect, handle gone slack, door needing a shove. Three different faults.
MoreLock change
After moving in, after a lost key, after a relationship ends. Planned work, so it costs less.
MoreBuilding entrance
Excluded by the large roadside providers. We open them — against proof of entitlement.
MoreGarage doors
Mechanical locks and manual doors at a fixed price. Motorised systems: an honest conversation.
MoreDoor security
What actually works, ordered by effect per euro — including what we advise against.
MoreFor business
Master key systems, framework agreements for property managers, commercial door openings.
MoreQuestions we are asked most
Do you actually speak English?
Yes — that is the point of this part of the site rather than a courtesy. You can call and be answered in English, and you can write to us on WhatsApp, which many people find easier than a phone call in a second language. If you would rather send a photograph of the lock than describe it, that works too and often tells us more than the description would.
How long until someone arrives?
We tell you on the phone, for your specific address. You will not find a blanket figure in minutes anywhere on this site, because it depends on where our technician currently is and on traffic. Anyone promising a fixed time without asking where you are cannot keep it at three in the morning any more than we could.
Answered briefly — in full elsewhere
- Are you really available at night? Yes, around the clock including Sundays and public holidays. Night work costs more, and we show the difference openly. Full answer
- What does a locksmith cost in Munich? It depends on the situation, the time and the driving distance. You get the final figure in writing before work starts. Full answer
- Is travel included in the price? Inside Munich, yes. Beyond it, 1.50 € for every kilometre of the whole journey from our premises — not just the part outside the city. Full answer
- What does it cost at night? For a latched door, nights, Sundays and public holidays carry the highest rate. For a locked door the price is the same around the clock. Full answer
- Will I have to prove who I am? Yes. Photo ID with that address, or ID plus a document linking you to it. If it is all inside, say so when you call. Full answer
- Someone is locked inside. What do I do? If anyone is at risk, call 112. The fire brigade is faster and is permitted to force entry. Full answer
- How can I pay? Cash, girocard or Apple Pay, directly to the technician. If your card was issued abroad, mention it when you call. Full answer
