Locked out? We will tell you the price before we set off.
Locked out in Munich
Whether the door latched shut behind you or was locked with a key, we open it — around the clock, and in the great majority of cases without any damage.
The two situations are not the same, and the difference matters for the price. A latched door is the simplest case there is. A locked door has solid bolts engaged and takes considerably more work.

We check what actually happened
Did the door latch shut behind you, or was it locked with a key? It sounds trivial but it decides the effort and the price. If it turns out to be locked rather than latched, we tell you and quote the other price before starting.
- 2
Latched door: opened via the latch
A thin card or a specialist tool pushes the spring latch back. On a normal apartment door this often takes under a minute and leaves no trace on door, frame or lock. This is the cheapest case there is.
- 3
Locked door: picking, not drilling
When the door was locked with a key, one or more solid bolts are engaged and cannot simply be pushed back. We pick the cylinder where possible. It takes longer, but the door remains fully usable afterwards.
- 4
Key stuck on the inside
A common case in shared flats. With a specialist tool the key is turned from outside through the cylinder. This works on most standard cylinders and causes no damage. Please mention it on the phone so we bring the right tool.

If damage is unavoidable
On security cylinders with anti-drill protection or multi-point locking, opening without damage is not always possible. We tell you before starting what we propose, what it costs and what will need replacing. You decide — if you decline, there is no charge.
What will it cost?
The price depends on which of the two situations you are in, on the time of day, and on where you are. All figures include 19 % VAT.

Before you call us
Some of this may save you the call-out entirely. We would rather tell you now than after you have paid.
- Check whether a window or balcony door is open — and safely reachable.
- Ask the Hausmeister (caretaker) or Hausverwaltung (property management company). In German apartment buildings they frequently hold a spare key, and it costs nothing.
- Ask neighbours or family whether anyone has your spare key.
- Do not try to open the door yourself with a card. If it jams or breaks off inside the lock, what would have been a quick opening becomes a cylinder replacement with parts to pay for.
Questions we are asked most
What is the difference between latched and locked?
If you simply pulled the door shut behind you without turning a key, it is latched — only the spring latch is holding. If you or someone else turned the key, solid bolts are engaged as well. Latched doors are the simplest and cheapest case; locked doors take considerably more work. In German the two situations even have separate names, and any provider charging the same for both is either not distinguishing them or has priced both at the higher level.
Will the door be damaged?
On a latched door, almost never. On a locked door, usually not either — picking leaves the lock fully usable. Damage becomes a possibility with security cylinders and multi-point locking, and in those cases we tell you beforehand rather than presenting you with a bill afterwards.
Someone is locked inside the flat. What should I do?
If a person is at risk — a child alone, a medical emergency, water or gas escaping — call the fire brigade on 112. They arrive faster and are permitted to force entry in such cases. We will tell you the same thing on the phone rather than setting off.
What can I try before calling?
Check whether a window or balcony door is open and safely reachable. Ask neighbours, family, the Hausmeister (caretaker) or the Hausverwaltung (property management) for a spare key — in German apartment buildings this often works and costs nothing. What you should not do is try to open the door yourself with a card: if it jams or breaks off in the lock, the job becomes considerably more expensive.
Do I need to show ID?
Yes. Before opening we check that you are entitled to enter — usually photo ID showing that address, or ID plus a document linking you to it. If you have no ID at all because it is inside the flat, say so on the phone; there are other ways to establish this, but we will need something.
Standing outside right now?
Call us. We tell you the price and a realistic arrival time before anyone sets off.
