Small in area, mixed in building, and aerospace on its northern edge.
Locksmith in Ottobrunn
Ottobrunn lies southeast of Munich between Neubiberg and Hohenbrunn. It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in the district despite covering very little ground, and it grew from a settlement founded in the 1920s rather than from a medieval village.
Its northern edge holds aerospace industry sites that give the place an unusually international workforce for a town of its size.
What it costs in Ottobrunn
Ottobrunn is in zone 3, the surrounding district, so travel is added to the opening — calculated over the whole journey by road from our premises to your address, not from the boundary onwards and not as a flat rate for the municipality. Within a single municipality the routes often differ by several kilometres, so a flat rate would either overcharge you or be unsustainable for us. The calculator shows the amount as its own line.

Where Ottobrunn is
Ottobrunn sits southeast of Munich between Neubiberg and Hohenbrunn. The Rosenheimer Landstraße runs through as the central axis; the Rathausplatz, the Ottostraße and the area around the Michaelikirche are the other reference points. To the north lie the commercial sites of the aerospace industry, which shape the local economy. Neubiberg adjoins to the north, Unterhaching to the west and Hohenbrunn to the east. The municipality covers a small area, so distances within it are short and everything is within a few minutes of everything else.
What the buildings are like

Haustür eines Einfamilienhauses, Zylinder und Schutzbeschlag erkennbar
Unusually mixed for such a small area. From the founding period in the 1920s onwards there are small settlement houses on narrow plots, some still largely original. Alongside them stand developments from the 1960s and 1970s with central locking systems, and newer apartment buildings on subdivided plots. The result is that neighbouring addresses can have entirely different arrangements: an original front door with a lock changed piecemeal over ninety years, next to a building where one key opens four doors. In the north, office buildings with commercial access arrangements.
Getting to you
Ottobrunn is reached by the Rosenheimer Landstraße and the A8 and lies close to the city boundary, so the journey from Munich is short. Distances within the municipality are minimal given its size. Parking is generally unproblematic. What is worth mentioning on the phone is which kind of building you are in — settlement house, post-war development, or new apartment block — because the three behave so differently at the door that it changes what the technician brings.

Questions from Ottobrunn
My house is from the 1930s and the lock has been changed several times. Is that a problem?
Not a problem, but worth knowing in advance. Settlement houses of that period have often had cylinders replaced piecemeal over decades, sometimes with parts that do not quite match the door — a cylinder standing proud of the fitting, or a lock body older than everything around it. We open through the cylinder as usual. Where we see something that is a security weakness rather than just old, we will say so; whether you act on it is your call.
Ottobrunn is outside the city. Is that expensive to reach?
No. The travel component comes from the actual road distance to your address, and Ottobrunn lies close to the city boundary — closer than several districts that are administratively part of Munich. The municipality is also small, so there is very little variation within it. Enter the address in the calculator and you get the figure before anyone sets off.
I work at one of the aerospace sites and cannot get into the building. Can you help?
Almost certainly not, and better said now than at the gate. Those sites run access control with security desks, and parts of them carry restrictions that make an outside locksmith the wrong contact entirely. Contact your building's facility management or the site security. If it is your flat rather than your workplace, that is a different matter and we come.
And the questions that are the same everywhere
- Do you actually speak English? Yes. By phone or on WhatsApp — writing is often easier than a call in a second language. Full answer
- What does a locksmith cost in Munich? It depends on the situation, the time and the driving distance. You get the final figure in writing before work starts. Full answer
- Is travel included in the price? Inside Munich, yes. Beyond it, 1.50 € for every kilometre of the whole journey from our premises — not just the part outside the city. Full answer
- Will I have to prove who I am? Yes. Photo ID with that address, or ID plus a document linking you to it. If it is all inside, say so when you call. Full answer
