The smallest municipality in the district — farms, forest and long drives.

Locksmith in Straßlach-Dingharting

Straßlach-Dingharting lies south of Grünwald between the Grünwalder Forst and the Isar valley. It is the smallest municipality in the district by population, and it is farming country: two villages, several hamlets, and individual farmsteads between them.

It is also at the southern edge of our service area, which shows in the journey — and this page says so rather than leaving it to the invoice.

What it costs in Straßlach-Dingharting

Straßlach-Dingharting is in zone 3, the surrounding district, so travel is added to the opening — calculated over the whole journey by road from our premises to your address, not from the boundary onwards and not as a flat rate for the municipality. Within a single municipality the routes often differ by several kilometres, so a flat rate would either overcharge you or be unsustainable for us. The calculator shows the amount as its own line.

Google address check
For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

Where Straßlach-Dingharting is

Straßlach-Dingharting sits south of Grünwald, between the Grünwalder Forst and the Isar valley. Straßlach, with the church of St. Nikolaus, lies on the Wolfratshauser Straße; Dingharting to the southeast; and the hamlets of Beigarten and Großdingharting, along with individual farmsteads, are scattered between them. The main routes are the Wolfratshauser Straße towards Grünwald and Munich, and the connecting roads between the settlements. Forest surrounds much of the municipality. Grünwald adjoins to the north, Schäftlarn to the southwest and Baierbrunn to the west.

What the buildings are like

Alte Hof- oder Scheunentür mit sichtbarem Schloss

Village in character and small in scale. In both main villages there are working and former farms with a farmhouse, stables and barns, supplemented by post-war detached houses on large plots. The hamlets consist of individual properties, several with long private drives and no near neighbours. Newer building at the village edges has modern front doors and conventional cylinders. On the farms, the locks on outbuildings are frequently decades older than those on the houses, and a single property can hold several generations of locking at once.

Getting to you

Straßlach-Dingharting is reached by the Wolfratshauser Straße from Grünwald. The municipality lies at the southern edge of our service area and the journey is among the longest we make — calculated, as everywhere, from the actual road distance to your address. There is little street lighting outside the village centres, properties are set back, and satellite navigation places individual farmsteads inaccurately with some regularity. A description of the entrance is worth as much as the house number here.

What we are usually called for in Straßlach-Dingharting

  • House and yard doors at working and former farms
  • Stable, barn and cart shed doors with older locking
  • Individual properties in the hamlets with long drives
  • Post-war detached houses on large plots
  • Newer houses at the village edges with modern security fittings

Questions from Straßlach-Dingharting

My farmstead is not in either village. How will you find it?

By asking for more than an address, which we do routinely out here. Which village it counts as, which road we turn off, how far along, what the entrance looks like, whether the drive is shared with a neighbour. Satellite navigation regularly places individual farmsteads in the wrong field in this part of the district, and after dark there is nothing to correct it by. Two minutes on the phone saves twenty on farm tracks.

Should I wait until morning?

Often yes, and we will tell you rather than let you work it out afterwards. This is among the longest journeys we make, so the travel component is at the upper end, and night, Sunday and holiday work carries the highest rate on top of that. If nobody is at risk and a neighbour might hold a spare key, morning costs a great deal less. If you do need us tonight, you get the whole figure before anyone sets off.

The barn lock is ancient and completely seized. Is it worth trying?

Usually, and it is often less dramatic than it looks. Old agricultural locks are mechanically simple, and a seized one is frequently corrosion rather than failure — the right spray and some patience free a good many of them. Where one has gone past saving we say so before opening it, rather than getting you in and leaving the same problem for next season. What not to do in the meantime is use oil: it makes a paste that guarantees the replacement.
