A baroque monastery in the valley, villages on the bank above, and the far edge of our area.

Locksmith in Schäftlarn

Schäftlarn lies at the southern end of the district in the Isar valley and has five parts. Hohenschäftlarn and Ebenhausen sit on the western high bank; Neufahrn lies inland to the northwest; and Kloster Schäftlarn, a Benedictine monastery with a rococo church, sits down by the river.

It is one of the longer journeys we make, and the parts of the municipality are a real distance from one another — both facts belong on this page rather than on the invoice.

What it costs in Schäftlarn

Schäftlarn is in zone 3, the surrounding district, so travel is added to the opening — calculated over the whole journey by road from our premises to your address, not from the boundary onwards and not as a flat rate for the municipality. Within a single municipality the routes often differ by several kilometres, so a flat rate would either overcharge you or be unsustainable for us. The calculator shows the amount as its own line.

Google address check
For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

Where Schäftlarn is

Schäftlarn lies at the far south of the Landkreis München in the Isar valley. Hohenschäftlarn and Ebenhausen are on the western high bank; Kloster Schäftlarn with its church is down in the valley by the river; the Zell district lies to the northwest. Neufahrn, the fifth part of the municipality, is about two kilometres northwest of the monastery, gathered around the branch church of St. Martin and reached by the Staatsstraße 2065. The main routes are the Wolfratshauser Straße as the principal connection, the Bahnhofstraße in Ebenhausen, and the Klosterstraße running down into the valley. The railway towards Wolfratshausen connects Ebenhausen. Baierbrunn adjoins to the north and Straßlach-Dingharting across the valley to the east.

What the buildings are like

Alte Hof- oder Scheunentür mit sichtbarem Schloss

Rural, with clear differences between the parts. In Hohenschäftlarn and Ebenhausen, detached houses on large plots predominate, many from the 1950s to the 1980s. Zell is more agricultural, with barns and outbuildings among the houses. The monastery area holds very old locks and hardware — building of a kind found nowhere else in our area, where the lock on a door may be older than the city of Munich's ring road. Cellar entrances throughout the municipality suffer from valley damp and stiffen accordingly.

Getting to you

Schäftlarn is reached by the Wolfratshauser Straße and lies at the southern edge of our service area — one of the longer journeys we make. Between the parts on the high bank and the valley floor there is a steep descent, and the road down to the monastery is not something to attempt on the strength of a map alone. Travel is calculated from the actual road distance to your address, so Ebenhausen and a property in the valley are priced differently. If it can wait for the daytime rate, that saves more than the distance costs.

Questions from Schäftlarn

Is it worth calling you out this far south?

Sometimes not, and we will say which. Schäftlarn is at the southern edge of our area, so the travel component is at the upper end — that is arithmetic, not a rural surcharge. If nobody is at risk and it can wait for business hours, the time band alone saves a substantial amount. If somebody nearby holds a spare key, that saves all of it. We would rather tell you that than take a night call-out you did not need.

The door is genuinely old — the building is centuries old. Can it be opened without damage?

Frequently yes, and old is not the same as difficult. Locks of that age are mechanically simpler than modern cylinders and often open more readily. The care goes into the door and its fittings rather than the mechanism: on historic or listed building fabric we open through the lock wherever possible, and if we think damage might be unavoidable you hear it before anything is touched. A photograph on WhatsApp tells us a great deal here.

How do I explain where I am — the bank or the valley?

Say which, and it matters more here than almost anywhere. Ebenhausen and Hohenschäftlarn are on the high bank; the monastery and the properties near it are down by the river, reached by a separate descent. The two are minutes apart in a straight line and a genuinely different drive. Street and house number plus "up top" or "down in the valley" is all we need.
