The southern edge of the city — quiet, green, and further out than it feels.

Locksmith in Solln

Solln lies at the far south of Munich, west of the Isar and against the boundary with Pullach. It is a villa quarter with its own S-Bahn station, laid out largely between 1890 and 1930, and it has kept the character of a garden suburb rather than a city district.

Most addresses here are houses on large plots, which means the way in is usually a gate first and a front door second.

What it costs in Solln

Solln is in one of the Munich zones, which means travel is fully included in the fixed price — neither as a flat rate nor by the kilometre. What decides the price is which kind of opening it is and, for a door that has simply latched shut, what time it is.

Google address check
For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

When this price does not apply

  • Security locks of a higher resistance class
  • Multi-point locking (several bolts at once)
  • Security bars or additional locking devices
  • Technically difficult opening: jammed or warped door, broken bolt
  • Replacement parts such as cylinder, mortise lock or escutcheon
  • A situation that turns out to differ from what was described

In these cases our technician quotes the price before starting work, in writing. If you decline, there is no charge.

Where Solln is

Solln sits at the southern edge of Munich, west of the Isar, bordering Pullach. The Sollner Bahnhof and the Wolfratshauser Straße as the main axis form the practical centre, with the Prinz-Ludwigs-Höhe — a planned villa quarter from around 1900 — as the most distinctive part. The Herterichstraße, the Sollner Straße, the Papiererstraße and the Warnberg area to the south carry the remaining addresses. East of the built-up area the land falls away to the Isar and its woods. Officially Solln belongs to a city district with one of the longest names in Munich, which nobody uses; the place is simply Solln.

What the buildings are like

Aufwendige Haustür mit Schutzbeschlag, Detailaufnahme des Beschlags

Predominantly detached houses and villas on large plots, a considerable share from between 1890 and 1930, with post-war building and individual newer houses on subdivided plots among them. The Prinz-Ludwigs-Höhe holds the most substantial villas with extensive gardens. Access is nearly always through the property rather than directly from the street: a gate, a path, then the door — often with a separate service entrance and an outside cellar stair as well. Around the station there are smaller apartment developments with conventional entrances.

Getting to you

Solln is reached by the Wolfratshauser Straße and the motorway to the south. Parking is unproblematic and it is usually possible to stop at the property. What is worth saying plainly is the distance: Solln is at the far southern edge of the city, so the journey from a central base is longer than for the inner districts, and the travel component reflects that. It is calculated from the actual road distance rather than a flat rate, so the calculator gives you the figure before anyone sets off rather than a rule of thumb afterwards.

What we are usually called for in Solln

  • Front doors of villas and detached houses on large plots
  • Garden gates, service entrances and separate outside cellar stairs
  • Garage doors on garages added later to older houses
  • Advice on burglary protection at detached houses with gardens
  • Flats in the smaller developments around Solln station

Questions from Solln

Do I have to be at the property, or can a neighbour let you in?

You or somebody who can show entitlement has to be there. We check before opening that the person instructing us is entitled to enter — that is not bureaucracy, it is the reason you can rely on nobody opening your door while you are away. A neighbour holding a key is a different matter entirely and does not need us at all. If you are away and somebody else needs access, that person needs their own proof or your written authorisation.

My garage was added later and its lock is much older than the house door. Does that matter?

It matters for how easy it is to open and for what we would suggest afterwards. Garages added in the post-war decades often have simple locks that have corroded in an unheated building, and a lock that needed force today will need it again. We will tell you when we think a cylinder is at the end of its life rather than leaving you to discover it. Replacing a garage cylinder is inexpensive as planned work.

How far out is Solln really?

Far enough that it shows in the travel component, and we would rather say so than let you find out on the invoice. It is at the southern edge of the city, past Thalkirchen and Obersendling, and the drive from a central base is longer than to most districts. What does not change is anything else in the price: the situation and the time of day cost the same wherever you are. Enter the address in the calculator and you get the whole figure.
