The largest municipality in the district by area — and mostly forest.
Locksmith in Sauerlach
Sauerlach lies in the south of the district on the A8 and the railway towards Holzkirchen. It covers more ground than any other municipality here, and most of that ground is woodland.
The settlements are scattered: the main village near the motorway junction, then Arget, Altkirchen, Lochhofen and Oberbiberg, separated by forest. "In Sauerlach" can mean journeys that differ by ten kilometres.
What it costs in Sauerlach
Sauerlach is in zone 3, the surrounding district, so travel is added to the opening — calculated over the whole journey by road from our premises to your address, not from the boundary onwards and not as a flat rate for the municipality. Within a single municipality the routes often differ by several kilometres, so a flat rate would either overcharge you or be unsustainable for us. The calculator shows the amount as its own line.

Where Sauerlach is
Sauerlach sits in the south of the Landkreis München on the A8 and the Holzkirchen railway. The main village with the station is central, close to the motorway junction. Arget and Altkirchen lie to the southwest, Lochhofen and Oberbiberg to the north. The main routes are the Tegernseer Landstraße as the principal connection, the Argeter Straße and the motorway link. Large tracts of forest separate the settlements from one another — which is what makes this the largest municipality in the district by area while remaining one of the smaller ones by population. Brunnthal adjoins to the east, Oberhaching to the north and Aying to the southeast.
What the buildings are like

Rural across a large area. In all the settlements, detached houses and former agricultural properties predominate, many still with stables, barns and cart sheds. Plots are large, properties can be hundreds of metres apart, and street lighting is limited outside the village centres. Newer housing at the edge of the main village has modern front doors and conventional cylinders. The outlying hamlets and individual properties frequently have long private drives, and the locks on outbuildings are often decades older than those on the house.
Getting to you
Sauerlach is reached by the A8 and the Tegernseer Landstraße. The main village lies close to the motorway junction and is straightforward; Arget, Altkirchen and the hamlets are considerably further, over country roads through forest. That difference is real and it shows in the travel component, which is calculated from the actual road distance to your address rather than one figure for the municipality. We would rather tell you that on the phone than have you find it on the invoice.

Questions from Sauerlach
How much difference does it make which part of Sauerlach I am in?
A real one. This is the largest municipality in the district by area, and the drive to Arget or one of the hamlets is meaningfully longer than to the main village by the motorway junction. That is why travel is calculated from the actual road distance to your address rather than from a rate for the municipality — a flat rate would overcharge whoever lives near the junction and undercharge whoever does not.
There is no street lighting and the property is set back. How will you find it?
By asking for rather more than the address. Which settlement it counts as, which road we turn off, how far along, what the entrance looks like, whether the drive is shared. Satellite navigation places individual properties in this part of the district in the wrong place with some regularity, and after dark there is nothing to correct it by. Two minutes on the phone saves considerably more than that on the road.
Should I wait until morning?
Often yes, and we will say so. Night, Sunday and public holiday work carries the highest rate, and out here the travel component is already the larger part of the bill. If nobody is at risk, if you have somewhere to be, and if a neighbour might hold a spare key, morning is substantially cheaper. If you do need us tonight, you get the full figure before anyone sets off.
And the questions that are the same everywhere
- Do you actually speak English? Yes. By phone or on WhatsApp — writing is often easier than a call in a second language. Full answer
- What does a locksmith cost in Munich? It depends on the situation, the time and the driving distance. You get the final figure in writing before work starts. Full answer
- Is travel included in the price? Inside Munich, yes. Beyond it, 1.50 € for every kilometre of the whole journey from our premises — not just the part outside the city. Full answer
- Will I have to prove who I am? Yes. Photo ID with that address, or ID plus a document linking you to it. If it is all inside, say so when you call. Full answer
