A university hospital, two 1960s estates, and a village centre between them.

Locksmith in Hadern

Hadern lies in the southwest of Munich. Most people know it for one building: the Klinikum Großhadern, one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, with its own U-Bahn station and a workforce drawn from all over the world.

Around it are large housing estates from the 1960s and 1970s, and between them the old village centres of Groß- and Kleinhadern, which still look like what they were.

What it costs in Hadern

Hadern is in one of the Munich zones, which means travel is fully included in the fixed price — neither as a flat rate nor by the kilometre. What decides the price is which kind of opening it is and, for a door that has simply latched shut, what time it is.

Google address check
For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

When this price does not apply

  • Security locks of a higher resistance class
  • Multi-point locking (several bolts at once)
  • Security bars or additional locking devices
  • Technically difficult opening: jammed or warped door, broken bolt
  • Replacement parts such as cylinder, mortise lock or escutcheon
  • A situation that turns out to differ from what was described

In these cases our technician quotes the price before starting work, in writing. If you decline, there is no charge.

Where Hadern is

Hadern sits in the southwest of Munich. The Klinikum Großhadern on the Marchioninistraße dominates the western side, with the medical faculty and research institutes attached to it. The old village centre of Großhadern lies nearby, and the Blumenau estate occupies the north. The main routes are the Würmtalstraße, the Guardinistraße, the Stiftsbogen and the Fürstenrieder Straße to the east. The district boundary to the west is also the city boundary, with Gräfelfing and Planegg beyond it. Sendling-Westpark adjoins to the north and Fürstenried to the south.

What the buildings are like

Mixed. The old centres of Großhadern and Kleinhadern consist of small-scale, partly rural building with detached houses. To the north and east lie large developments from the 1960s and 1970s, particularly in the Blumenau and around the Stiftsbogen — multi-storey buildings with lifts, central locking systems and extensive shared basements where compartments are grouped rather than placed under each staircase. Around the hospital there is staff housing and accommodation let on fixed terms, administered centrally and with correspondingly frequent changes of occupant.

Getting to you

Hadern is well connected by the Fürstenrieder Straße, the Würmtalstraße and the motorway to the west. Parking is easy and the developments have visitor spaces. Around the hospital, the site itself is a closed area with its own access organisation — for anything inside it, the hospital's facility management is the right contact rather than an outside locksmith. For an estate address, the building number and staircase matter more than the street name.

What we are usually called for in Hadern

  • Apartments and staff housing around the hospital
  • Flat doors in the Blumenau estate and around the Stiftsbogen
  • Cylinder changes on the frequent turnover of fixed-term tenancies
  • Detached houses in the old centre of Großhadern
  • Cellar compartments in the shared basements of large developments

Questions from Hadern

I work at the Klinikum and cannot get into my office. Can you help?

No — the hospital site runs its own access organisation, and for anything within the perimeter their facility management is the right and only proper contact. They have an out-of-hours service for exactly this. Staff housing varies: some flats are administered like ordinary tenancies and some belong to the campus arrangement. Say which you have when you call and we will tell you immediately whether we are the right people.

I am here on a research contract for a year. What proof do you need?

Something connecting you to the address. An accommodation agreement, a letter from the institute or the hospital confirming where you are housed, post addressed to you there, or your registration certificate if you have completed the Anmeldung. Fixed-term tenancies are the norm around the hospital, so this comes up constantly and there is nearly always a workable answer — we would just rather establish it on the phone than at your door.

My cellar compartment is a long way from my staircase. Is that usual?

In the estates here, yes. The basements were built as continuous corridors under whole rows, with compartments grouped centrally and intermediate doors along the route. Yours may be under a different building from your flat. Tell us which building the basement entrance is in, and bring the key for the intermediate doors if it is a separate one — otherwise we end up opening two doors instead of one.
