Where Ismaning is
Ismaning sits northeast of Munich on the Isar. The village centre gathers around Schloss Ismaning with its park and the church of St. Johann Baptist. To the east and south lie the extensive commercial estates; to the north, the Ismaninger Speichersee — a reservoir surrounded by a nature reserve that is one of the more important bird habitats in Bavaria. The main routes are the Erdinger Straße, the Münchner Straße and the Osterfeldstraße through the business park. The Fischerhäuser district lies north along the river. Unterföhring adjoins to the west, Garching to the northwest and Aschheim to the south.

The village centre has small-scale, partly historic building around the castle and church, supplemented by apartment buildings and developments from recent decades. The residential areas are mostly detached, semi-detached and terraced houses with garages and gardens. The commercial estates to the east and south are large-scale: office buildings, halls and logistics premises with commercial locking, roller shutter doors and, in the newer buildings, electronic access control. Fischerhäuser to the north retains agricultural buildings and outbuildings with older locks.
Getting to you
Ismaning is well connected by the A99, the B471 and the Erdinger Straße, with the approach from Munich running mostly on motorway and trunk road. Journeys within the municipality are short, with the exception of Fischerhäuser, which lies some way north along the river. In the business park, addresses are on named streets but buildings are often identified by the company inside them — so the company name alongside the street saves a slow circuit of an industrial estate at night.
