Two villages joined by a name, a river, and a locomotive works.

Locksmith in Allach-Untermenzing

Allach-Untermenzing lies in the northwest of Munich on both sides of the Würm. Two originally separate villages were merged into one district, and they still read as two places on the ground.

Its eastern edge holds extensive industrial land on the Dachauer Straße — Allach has built locomotives and engines for over a century, and the works housing built for that industry is still a large part of the district.

What it costs in Allach-Untermenzing

Allach-Untermenzing is in one of the Munich zones, which means travel is fully included in the fixed price — neither as a flat rate nor by the kilometre. What decides the price is which kind of opening it is and, for a door that has simply latched shut, what time it is.

Google address check
For address suggestions and — only for addresses in zone 3 — for calculating the road distance, the address you enter is transmitted to Google Ireland Limited. Details are in our privacy policy.

The address decides the zone, and the zone is decided by its postcode. In Munich zones 1 and 2 travel is included; in zone 3 we calculate it from the actual driving distance.

When this price does not apply

  • Security locks of a higher resistance class
  • Multi-point locking (several bolts at once)
  • Security bars or additional locking devices
  • Technically difficult opening: jammed or warped door, broken bolt
  • Replacement parts such as cylinder, mortise lock or escutcheon
  • A situation that turns out to differ from what was described

In these cases our technician quotes the price before starting work, in writing. If you decline, there is no charge.

Where Allach-Untermenzing is

Allach-Untermenzing sits in the northwest of Munich, straddling the Würm. Allach station and the Eversbuschstraße as the main axis form one centre; the old village core of Untermenzing around the church of St. Martin forms the other. Ludwigsfeld lies to the north, and extensive industrial land runs along the Dachauer Straße to the east. Further routes are the Pasinger Heuweg, the Georg-Reismüller-Straße and the Untermenzinger Straße. Obermenzing adjoins to the south, Moosach to the east and Aubing to the west. The Würm and the railway between them divide the district more effectively than the distance does.

What the buildings are like

Predominantly one- and two-family houses and terraced rows, largely from the 1920s to the 1960s, together with the works estates built when the industry arrived — small houses on narrow plots, characteristic of the district and still recognisable as a group. Around the old village cores of Allach and Untermenzing there is older, small-scale building. The industrial land to the east has workshops, halls and offices with commercial locking. Practically every house has a garage and a garden gate as well as a front door.

Getting to you

Allach-Untermenzing is reached by the Dachauer Straße, the Eversbuschstraße and the motorway to the north. Parking is unproblematic everywhere. What shapes the route is the Würm and the railway: both run through the district and crossing points are limited, so an address on the far side may require a detour the map does not suggest. Saying which of the two old villages you are in — Allach or Untermenzing — narrows it more than any other single word.

What we are usually called for in Allach-Untermenzing

  • Front doors of one- and two-family houses with garages
  • Small works-estate houses with locking that has grown over decades
  • Older houses in the village cores of Allach and Untermenzing
  • Workshop, hall and office doors on the industrial land
  • Garden gates and secondary entrances on larger plots

Questions from Allach-Untermenzing

Allach or Untermenzing — does it matter which I say?

It helps considerably. They were separate villages before the merger and they still function as two centres, on opposite sides of the Würm with limited crossings between them. Saying which one, along with the street and house number, saves a technician approaching from the wrong side of the river. For the price it makes little difference; for the route it makes a real one.

My house is in one of the old works estates. Anything particular?

Usually the cylinder rather than the lock. Those houses were built small and cheap for factory workers, and their locking has been replaced piecemeal over ninety years — a cylinder standing proud of the fitting is the common finding, and it is a genuine weakness because a protruding cylinder can be gripped and snapped. We will mention it if we see it; correcting it is inexpensive as planned work.

Do you cover the industrial premises on the Dachauer Straße?

The smaller workshops and offices, yes — those are ordinary commercial doors. The large works sites run their own security and access control, and there an outside locksmith has no standing; their facility management is the right contact. If you are unsure which of the two you are dealing with, say the company name on the phone and we will tell you straight away.
